Kippei + Shinji: new home

This house was small–small, but comfortable. Perfect. Kippei liked it, liked being here. Home should feel… like a refuge. A place to come and be where nothing outside could bother you. The old house, Tatsu’s house…hadn’t been that way, ever. This house was a safe place. A place to relax and let your guard down, completely, to feel it and know that here, there was nothing to watch out for. Nothing to be wary about.

Kamio + An: loudness

“What were you thinking?” Akira raised his voice, frustrated and clueless and just hating it…why was he always the last to find out about this stuff? But Ann was here and he was getting answers, dammit…

Ann blinked up at him and wrinkled her nose. “What’re you yelling for?” she asked obnoxiously.

An + Atobe: more double trouble

Ann did one last check-up in the mirror, making sure that her appearance was impeccable. Yellow dress with white floral patterns, tight, low-cut and spaghettistrapped top, wide, just above knee-length skirt, perfect for an evening out with dancing included; medium-heeled dancing shoes to give her an extra inch; white shawl to cover her shoulders; little braids instead of her trademark barettes; simple, elegant silver jewellry around her neck, wrist and ankle. Okay, she was as ready as could be. Now if just her grandmother could stop hovering, all would be good.

Shinji looked pensive, Kippei thought, or maybe just thoughtful. He was holding his guitar but not playing anything, staring into space with a distant look on his face. Kippei watched him for a few minutes, but he didn’t move, seemingly lost in thought. Kippei went over to sit down behind him, slipping his arms around Shinji’s waist and resting his chin on Shinji’s shoulder. Holding him and leaning against him, as if that made him feel closer somehow. He wasn’t sure why that look on Shinji’s face made him feel like he needed it.

Kippei + Akira: scars

Shinji and Akira looked absolutely adoreable when they were sleeping. Kippei still had the irresistible temptation to kiss them when he found them that way, but since he had talked to Shinji about it, he thought about it more. He had to admit that he rather liked Akira’s habit of taking naps in random places, whenever he fell asleep listening to his headphones. It happened rather often, as Akira tended to work hard and then be tired later, when he was finally still for any length of time.

The boombox was still dusty, unused as it was for many months. Akira hardly used it anymore, since his portable was more efficient and less disturbing to others and..well…portable.

Since it looked like he was the only one home, he’d had an urge to drag the not-so-lightweight piece of machinery down from the bedroom, using the heel of his hand to wipe away the dust obscuring the LCD display.

Kippei was a little worried. Just a little. Shinji had been….kind of quiet lately, and maybe it wasn’t a bad kind of quiet, but it was odd, and with Shinji you never knew. He was surprised, too, that Shinji hadn’t been pushing harder for them to actually move now that they had found a house, and while arranging all the details did take time, Shinji didn’t seem as impatient as Kippei had thought he might be. But he wasn’t terribly worried, not yet. Just…concerned. Maybe now was a good time to ask Shinji about something else he’d been wondering about.

“Oh…oh yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes…”

Akira raced into the house, the acceptance letter from Kippei’s college crushed tightly in his triumphantly aloft fist as he searched for his boyfriends. He found them in the kitchen, Shinji tuning his guitar at the table and Kippei stirring something in a bowl at the counter.

They had a house. They could move, and soon. Kippei felt incredibly, immensely relieved by this… he was surprised, in fact, at how relieved he was. It left him feeling suddenly tired, in a good sort of way, as if he could relax now and rest. Sleep. He hadn’t been sleeping well for awhile, especially not lately. Since his fight with Shinji–if you could call it that. It hadn’t been a fight, not really, but it had been bad enough.

It was pretty outside. Pleasent enough a day that Akira almost wished there was music to go along with it. Not that he would have taken his headphones with him while the three of them were walking together…despite that Shinji had pointedly grabbed his walkman and pronounced he wouldn’t need it. So he settled for looking up into the blue sky occasionally, hands in his pockets, glancing now and again at his boyfriends walking on his left hand side.
